Minoru Jacket

Por fin! Aquí está mi chaqueta Minoru de Sewaholic Patterns. Después de ver tantas versiones en el mundo bloguero costuril me decidí a hacer la mía. Y no me arrepiento, me encanta y es muy ponible, lo cual se agradece cuando pasas tantas horas de tu tiempo libre en coser una prenda. Todo empezó por el mes de octubre, comprar la tela, marcar el patrón, hacer una prueba, cortar la tela definitiva, encontrar las cremalleras, coser, coser y coser... hasta que llegó diciembre, justo antes de las vacaciones de Navidad la chaqueta estaba terminada y con éxito!

At last! Here it is my Minoru Jacket of Sewaholic Patterns. After seeing so many versions in sewings blogs all over the world I decided to sew my own. And I don't regret, I love it and I can't stop wearing it. All began in October and after buying the fabrics, tracing the pattern, making a muslin, cutting, sewing, sewing and sewing...  the jacket was successfully finished just in time for Christmas holidays!

Aprovecho para agradecer a Jen de Grainline que me propusiera participar en su Sew and Tell el pasado 14 de Diciembre con mi versión de los Maritime Shorts. Hacía tan buen tiempo en Canarias cuando saqué las fotos que pensó que escribía al sur del ecuador... ;-)

Also I have to thanks Jen of Grainline to propose me to participate in Sew and Tell last December with my version of Maritime Shorts. I took the pictures in Canary Islands where the weather is almost perfect the whole year, so she thought I lived in Southern Hemisphere...;-) 

Y por último decir que este ha sido mi último proyecto con mi máquina de coser Singer... Antes de Navidad paseando por el Festivalet en Barcelona, me encontré con las chicas de ALFA que tenían un 20% de descuento en máquinas de coser y no me lo pensé dos veces. Ahora tengo una super máquina de coser que estoy descubriendo poco a poco y que me permitirá tener mejores acabados en las prendas y que duren aún más! 

And finally I have to say that this was the last project with my Singer machine. Before Christmas I was in Festivalet, Barcelona, I was lucky to meet girls from ALFA sewing machines who has offered a 20% discount to buy a new one. So now I have a new electronic sewing machine to discover!

Liberty

Hace unos meses decidí transformar esta prenda que hice el año pasado porque me di cuenta de que nunca me la ponía, y como era tela Liberty me daba mucha penita no darle uso...

I decided to transform this garment I made last year because I realized that I never wore it...

Así que la transformé en un top para los días más calurosos del verano. Para hacerlo tomé las medidas de otro top que había comprado hace unos años.

So, I made a top for hottest days in summer. I took measures from another top that I bought years ago.

Con los restos de tela que me sobraron hice una toalla con capucha y dos pequeñisimos baberos para mi sobrina que nacerá en Noviembre.

And with the rest of the fabric I made a hooded baby towel with two tiny bibs for my little niece who will born in November.

Ahora mismo no estoy cosiendo ninguna prenda pero tengo en mente la chaqueta Minoru de Sewaholic, he visto la versión de Irene Bullock y me ha entrado muchas ganas. Al menos ya tengo el patrón y las telas, solo falta un poco de tiempo...

I am not sewing any garment at the moment but I have in mind the Minoru jacket of Sewaholic, I've seen recently Irene Bullock's version and it has motivated me to start. At least I have the pattern and the fabrics, now I just need time...

Moses basket cover + mini quilt

Me gustaría enseñarles esta preciosa funda que he hecho para el moisés de mi futura sobrina.
He cogido las medidas de la antigua funda que ya tenía el moisés para hacer una versión más moderna.
La tela utilizada es un algodón cepillado de Nani Iro que compré en Etsy y que me encanta.


I would like to show you this beautiful cover for my niece's moses.

I took the measures from the old cover the moses had before. 

I used a Nani Iro brushed cotton that I love! It was bought on Etsy.

Maritime Shorts

Aquí está el primer punto de mi lista de costura.

First item of my sewing list.

                                       

Patrón: Maritime Shorts de Grainline Studio.

La tela que he utilizado es un tejano de algodón muy fino, perfecto para esta época en Canarias, donde he estado de vacaciones estos últimos días viendo a la familia. Y donde he aprovechado para hacer esta sesión fotográfica.

I used a thin cotton denim fabric, perfect for the summer in Canary Islands, where I have been last days visiting my family. The pictures are taken there.

Es la primera vez que coso un pantalón y lo que todo ello conlleva (bolsillos, cremallera, etc...) pero me ha parecido muy entretenido y fácil de coser gracias a sus instrucciones. 

It's the first time that I sew shorts, so first time also for sewing pockets, zipper, and more... But it was funny and easy thanks to the instructions the pattern brings. 

En un principio quería coser este pantalón con esta tela vaquera de puntos que compré en Etsy (aquí) pero llegó demasiado tarde para este verano. ¡Quizás para el próximo!

At the beginning I wanted to sew this pattern a in a polka dot denim fabric that I bought on Etsy (here) but it arrived too late... so maybe next summer I will sew them.

                          

Sewing for others I

En las últimas semanas he estado cosiendo para la familia. Esta es una de las prendas que he hecho recientemente, una nueva camisa para Christian. He utilizado una tela de algodón con un cierto parecido al tejano y he añadido botones blancos para dar un poco de contraste.

El patrón es 4/2010 Mens' shirt #128A de Burda. He acortado las mangas, ajustado el ancho de hombros y recortado un poco la solapa del cuello para darle un look más moderno. El patrón de los bolsillos es de Colette Patterns, una variación gratuita que puedes descargar en su blog. Con estos cambios parece una camisa slim fit de Zara, pero a él le gusta el resultado, y eso es lo importante.

During the past weeks I have been sewing for the family. This is one of the garment I made recently, a shirt for Christian. I used a cotton fabric that looks like denim and I added white buttons for contrasting.

The pattern is 4/2010 Mens' shirt #128A from Burda. I shortened the sleeves and also adjusted the width of the shoulders. I used this free downloadable pocket variations for Negroni shirt of Colette Patterns. Now it looks more like a Zara slim fit shirt... but he likes the result!

Ha sido divertido este photo shoot en el parque, al menos para mí... ;-)
